Mackerel Pepes

As not merely fried, mackerel, this time, is made into pepes containing omega-3 and no saturated fats from cooking oils.


4 cleaned mackerels
5 stalks of sliced scallion
10 grains of sliced shallots
5 cloves of sliced garlic
1 handful of basils
1 sliced bilimbi/green tomato
1 tsp of sugar
4 pcs of bay leaves
2 stalks of lemongrass cut into 4 at 5 cm
Banana leaves


5 cored red chilies
8 candlenuts
1 young galangal sliced into 1 cm
2 cm of turmeric

How to make:

Blend scallion, shallots, garlic, basils, bilimbi/green tomato, sugar, and seasoning ingredients.
Divide into four parts.
Rub each mackerel with one part of seasoning.
Give each fish a piece of bay leaf and a slice of lemongrass.
Wrap with banana leaf.
Sew with a stick.
Steam for ten to fifteen minutes calculated from the boiling water.
When'll be eaten, roast that it has a leaf scent.
Serve hot with sauce.
