Storing Food in Refrigerator, What Are Its Benefits?

Food stored in the refrigerator or freezer, it can last longer. How to do good storage so that the quality of the food is maintained?

Food packaging is usually equipped with a shelf life. Although stored in the refrigerator, when it's past its expiration, it shouldn't be eaten.

Frozen processed foods such as nuggets and French fries, when get home, should be put into the freezer. Once the package is opened, the remaining contents must be spent within 2-3 days.

Adjust food for air circulation in the fridge is still good.

When you will thaw frozen food, remove it from the freezer the night before and put it in the cooler. If thawed in the microwave, it should be cooked immediately because the food is half-cooked.

Processed foods such as French fries or nuggets don't need to thaw but fry directly. Read instructions before frying.

Raw foods which have been thawed shouldn't be re-frozen. It's better the food is cooked and stored in the freezer again if it's not going to eat.

Raw foods which shall be stored in the freezer shouldn't be stored in large packs. Divide one section for one-time use into several sections.

Butter, margarine, and other types of fat stored in the refrigerator should be in their original packaging.

Leek and celery will last longer if wrapped in aluminum foil and put in in the vegetable drawer.

Kaffir lime, turmeric, bay, and pandan leaves which will be stored, wrap in paper or aluminum foil and put it in the freezer door.

Mushroom can be extended the age when wrapped in paper or put into an inflated plastic bag and then tied tightly. Store in the refrigerator.

Old cheese if stored in an airtight container can hold it for 2-3 months.

The meat which will be used to broil a steak should be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

All the food which will be stored in the refrigerator or freezer should be washed clean to avoid Salmonella bacteria contaminate food in the refrigerator.

Chicken, beef, and fish not stored in the freezer need to be wrapped in plastic and placed in a sealed container. Put it on the bottom shelf to avoid water droplets on other foods.

Frozen food must reach at -18°C so that bacteria and fungi can't grow. However, this method doesn't kill bacteria.

Stain/dirt due to spillage of food or drink should be cleaned immediately with a tissue not to cause odor and become a den of germs.

The rest of the food, drinks, cake, and bread, when stored in the refrigerator, should be placed in a sealed container.
